Title
New Propulsion Concepts - Based on New Fuels
Description
The performance characteristics of advanced air-breathing propulsion concepts in which high energy fluids play a dominant role are discussed. The role of new missions as the motivating force for advancing propulsion and fuel technology is explored, and the effects of fuel selection on vehicle and propulsion system design is discussed in terms of two missions selected on the basis of the applicability of advanced air-breathing propulsion systems for fulfilling their requirements. It is concluded that effective criteria for fuel selection for advanced propulsion systems must include the strong interactions which occur between fuel characteristics, mission requirements, and vehicle and propulsion system design.
