Abstract
-
The dissociation energy of the molecules MgO, CaO, SrO was determined. Do°(MgO)=85±5; Do°(CaO)=92±5; Do°(SrO)=102±5 kcal/mole. The ground state was considered to be 1Σ. This choice is discussed. A review and discussion of the literature values for Do°(MgO, CaO, SrO) is made. The molecule Sr2O was identified and its atomization energy determined; ΔHo°, at(Sr2O)=193±6 kcal/mole.
