Abstract: The nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of twenty branched-chain fatty acids were studied in order to identify the structure of isomeric aliphatic carboxylic acids of low molecular weight. The effect of chemical shift of methyl protons as a function of distance from the carboxyl group is discussed.
