Abstract
-
The optimum approach angle of attack (AOA) was determined for the model A3D airplane and operational inconsistencies with a standardized approach AOA were investigated. A standardized approach AOA is not feasible until Airstream Direction Detector orientation with respect to the wing is standardized. Numerous AOA system maintenance discrepancies are noted. Recommendations are made concerning present use of the AOA system, eventual standardization of approach AOA and improved system maintenance.
