Abstract
-
Test facilities, techniques, and results are presented for vibration model tests of a thin, very low aspect ratio wing subjected to transient heating. The two independent closed control loops are described that are used to track and excite the modes, and to obtain the desired temperature time history. Time history data are presented for frequency and shape of five wing vibration modes subjected to heat rates as high as 300°F/ second, maximum temperatures of 650°F, and geometric temperature gradients as high as 110°F / inch. Some comparisons of theoretical to test results are made.
