Abstract
-
The purpose of this research program was to collect all available measured prepared surface profile and power spectral data, to ascertain the reliability of these data, to establish from these data design criteria for vehicles operating on prepared surfaces, and to demonstrate the applicability of these design criteria. Both deterministic and statistical analyses are used to determine the responses of a five-degree-offreedom vehicle to some of the criteria developed in Volume I of this report. Volume I is concerned with the collection of profile and power spectra data for runways, taxiways and ramps, ascertaining the reliability of these data, and establishment from the data sets of design criteria for vehicles operating on prepared surfaces.
