Abstract
-
A general methodology in Structural Dynamics based on the use of generalized coordinates is presented. These general methods are demonstrated by analysis of some of the problems of slender, conventional, launch vehicles. Applications of the general methodology are also given for complex configurations employing thin shell tanks in clustered arrangements. The methods of structural analysis and vibration analysis that are presented are not restricted to any particular geometry and apply to any complex redundantly coupled structure. To further demonstrate the general methods, a vibration analysis of the clustered Saturn I launch vehicle is presented.
